Free flight simulator game

Fly Dangerous is a fan-made flight simulator racing game that lets you create your own custom tracks and terrain, and share them with other players. The game is developed by Juki, who created the game based on the flight mechanics and flight model from the racing game, Elite Dangerous: Odyssey.

In its first stages in development, the game was only supposed to be a companion simulator that will help players get comfortable with the flight mechanics of Elite Dangerous: Odyssey. However, with growing demand, it grew to become an independent racing game with features made based on community requests.

Fly in infinite terrain

Fly Dangerous is a great game to practice flight simulations because of its close to realistic design. On top of that, it has VR support that gives you a more immersive flight experience. However, the best part about the simulator is its customizability. It gives its players so much freedom since they can take the limiters off, and do more things with the physics and go more advanced.

You can use the game if you want racing and to hoon, and pair it up with infrastructure and gameplay of games like Track Mania. Meanwhile, you can also customize your ship, flight sticks, and your own flight mechanics and share them with other players. After that, it all gets seeded in an infinite terrain, so you can pretty much do whatever you want in a free-play flight.

The race tracks, however, are quite short. Plus, it takes you back to the starting point if you fail. However, one great feature about the game is its boost charge mechanics that prevent players from using boosts in succession. This requires players to make strategic decisions on when to use their boosters to win the race. You can also use boosters one second before the countdown timer starts.

Highly immersive and customizable

To top everything off, the customizability of Fly Dangerous easily makes it one of the best free flight simulation games. From customizing your terrain to your ship, flight mechanics, physics, and flight stick, the game gives you so much freedom. Best of all, you can share your work with other players. Unfortunately, the races are quite short, so it also ends quickly. Still, that won’t rob you of fun.

User reviews about Fly Dangerous

Hey! I'm nova, and I'm closely associated with the game and its developer, Juki. FlyDangerous is an awesome game, and I agree with many of the points brought up in this article, however i do have a few things to address. First off, the flight mechanics are mostly standard Newtonian Physics, and adaptively based off of Elite: Dangerous *Horizons* Physics, specifically it's "Flight Assist Off" flight characteristic. This changes ship mechanics and flight model drastically from the default. (To be clear, odyssey has this too, but there are physics changes to the Flight Assist Off System that made it feel quite different, and arguably worse.) Second off, the flight characteristics are free to be changed by the user to alter the way that the ship handles, accelerates, etc. with many different configs put up by the community. Modifiable characteristics include: Speed, Boost Speed, Torque, RPY Multipliers, Lateral and Vertical Multipliers, Boost duration, and so, SO much more! Thirdly, while races are short, more are in development to be implemented as a sort of "campaign" style mode, and on top of that a 3rd party track development tool called RaceMate has been produced by a member of the FlyDangerous Discord Server (( https://discord.flydangero.us )) and has a link to it's download pinned in one of the top channels. Lastly, I will touch on other features missed in the article. 1. The game is fully open-source and is entirely up on GitHub (( https://github.com/jukibom/... )) 2. The game recently received multiplayer support, with many dedicated servers soon to be put up (currently works as dedicated host setup, but this is temporary). As a final note, planned features include trails, multiple improvements to the sound design, a whole new 3D model for the ship you fly designed by a community member and MORE! Thanks for reading, and a big thank you to the article's writer at Softonic for writing about it, greatly appreciated!-nova, and the FlyDangerous Community. <3

In Softonic we scan all the files hosted on our platform to assess and avoid any potential harm for your device. Our team performs checks each time a new file is uploaded and periodically reviews files to confirm or update their status. This comprehensive process allows us to set a status for any downloadable file as follows:

Clean

It’s extremely likely that this software program is clean.

What does this mean?

We have scanned the file and URLs associated with this software program in more than 50 of the world's leading antivirus services; no possible threat has been detected.

Warning

This software program is potentially malicious or may contain unwanted bundled software.

Why is the software program still available?

Based on our scan system, we have determined that these flags are possibly false positives.

What is a false positive?

It means a benign program is wrongfully flagged as malicious due to an overly broad detection signature or algorithm used in an antivirus program.

We’d like to highlight that from time to time, we may miss a potentially malicious software program. To continue promising you a malware-free catalog of programs and apps, our team has integrated a Report Software feature in every catalog page that loops your feedback back to us.
